In British Columbia, a joint project between the BC Medical Association and the government's Medical Services Commission has developed ordering Protocols and Guidelines that are intended to encourage standardized "best practices" for the use of diagnostic testing and treatment approaches. A number of these determine the way in which laboratory testing is performed.
