LifeLabs Enhances Service to Hamilton Residents

Opening of New Hamilton Mountain Location Means
Improved Patient Access to Laboratory Testing Services

Hamilton, ON (April 24, 2008) -- LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services today announced the opening of a new location to serve the laboratory testing needs of Hamilton Mountain physicians and their patients.

The new patient service centre, which is now fully staffed and operational, is located at 1007 Fennell Ave. E., in the Fennell Plaza at the corner of Upper Gage Street and Fennell Ave. on Hamilton Mountain. The new facility is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

In addition to community patient specimen collection, LifeLabs presence on Hamilton Mountain means that local area physicians and long-term care facilities can access the following services:

·         Delivery of supplies for specimen collection;
·         A range of community laboratory testing;
·         Electrocardiograms (ECGs); and
·         Delivery of test results

Laboratory testing is integral to the healthcare system. Some reports estimate that lab results constitute about 70% of a patient’s medical record, while up to 80% of all clinical treatment decisions are based on results from laboratory tests.
